Dr. Mitchell first realized his strong passion for helping people through the wellness field while working at a drugstore in high school. That experience inspired him to earn his graduate degree in pharmacy and help people for more than 24 years. While practicing as a compounding and consultant pharmacist, Dr. Mitchell learned that many of the drugs dispensed for treatment were ultimately harming patients by suppressing their symptoms while allowing the underlying cause of illness to remain untreated. With this epiphany, Dr. Mitchell decided to pursue medical school and provide patients with the best of both naturopathic and conventional medicine. He completed his medical degree from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine.

Dr. Mitchell’s first experience in using natural, restorative healing came before he even entered medical school, when he helped both his wife Ann and a family member with debilitating illnesses. At 20 months old, the family member was diagnosed with autism and was told that there was nothing doctors could do to reverse the disorder. His love for these members of his family kept him from accepting these answers and urged him forward to find alternatives, which included DAN! (Defeat Autism Now) training education.

While in school to earn his NMD, Dr. Mitchell trained under leaders in environmental medicine and autism, including Walter Crinnion, ND, Jessica Tran, ND, William Rea, MD, and Elizabeth Mumper, MD. Through that work, Dr. Mitchell developed his own treatment protocols and was able to further reverse the autism disorder and allow his family member to recover, develop, and thrive as a neuro-typical child.

Armed with those experiences, his time as a pharmacist, and with a medical degree in hand, Dr. Mitchell opened Lifestream Wellness to focus on endocrine (hormone), immune, and neurological concerns — the prime areas involved with environmental toxicity and commonly found in chronic disease states. Dr. Mitchell also specializes in bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), chronic inflammatory disease, chronic infectious disease, and autoimmune disorders. In his office, he has a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, and he has even designed a unique cardiovascular plaque removal protocol that reduces deposits by alternating treatments that remove the cholesterol then chelates out the calcifications and heavy metals.

Dr. Mitchell is a compassionate listener who empowers and educates his patients, allowing them to fully understand their health and the healing process. Dr. Mitchell is a dedicated advocate and trusted advisor for patients in their journey to tackle their initial health concerns, the restoration process, and their quest for maintaining a life of health and wellness.

Dr. Mitchell has completed training for diagnosing and treating Lyme Disease and the co-infections that accompany it through the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS). Dr. Mitchell is a member of both ILADS and ACAM. His Lyme Literate education extends through ILADS, ACAM, and his naturopathic and pharmacy training. Dr. Carla is passionate about making a difference in people’s lives. Many people come to us when they’ve lost hope of ever feeling good—Dr. Carla loves to restore that hope and see patients’ lives blossom with possibilities when we help them get their health back.

The Road to Chiropractic

Dr. Carla was in a car accident as a child, and the stress from that trauma contributed to the chronic pain, fatigue, depression and weight gain she experienced until she discovered chiropractic care in her twenties.

In 2006, she opened her Bioenergetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.) practice. B.E.S.T. is based on chiropractic principles and neurology, using a non-force technique that aligns the brain and body, allowing the body to function efficiently and heal. After some time, Dr. Carla wanted to work with patients on a deeper level, so she attended Life University to become a chiropractor.

Like many Chicago natives, she was ready for a warmer climate so after receiving her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2015, she opened Abundant Health Arizona in Scottsdale. Dr. Carla has published chiropractic research and holds the following certifications:

  •  Elite Master certification in B.E.S.T.

Chrishauna Lacy, RN

Concierge Medicine

“I can’t say enough about the care that I received from the Nizhoni team. I came in as I had just tested positive for Covid. They started me with a vitamin infusion and then provided me with a protocol for battling this stuff. After two weeks of adhering to their protocol, I am back at work and feeling pretty darn good. Not only did they give me stuff that helped heal me, but they did it with kindness and grace that truly let me know that they cared about me as a person and not just a patient.”
